[New firmware] FiiO releases the new firmware for LC-BT2 and EH3NC!

FiiO announced recently a new firmware upgrade for the BTR3K wireless Bluetooth receiver. More details here, including all the important upgrades, changes, fixes along with instructions on how to upgrade your device.

 

Today FiiO announces yet another firmware upgrade, only this time it's aimed for LC-BT2 wireless Bluetooth neckband cable and EH3NC Over-Ear Noise Cancelling Wireless Bluetooth Headphones.

One of the new features included in this firmware upgrade is the much-requested user ability to rename devices connected via Bluetooth. Presently users can effortlessly add a custom name for their Bluetooth devices through using the FiiO Control App for easier identification and quicker pairing with other devices.

FiiO released the following details about the changes and improvements in the new firmware FW1.2:

  • Added a new function of renaming the Bluetooth device. (FiiO Control App->Setting menu->Custom device name. The same function will be available later in the FiiO Music App.)
  • Changed the time to press the Power button for 2 seconds to turn off the device.
  • Fixed the issue where the device would fail to enter playing state when connected to computers/adapters through HFP, and thus led to unsuccessful audio output after entering standby mode.
  • Fixed the issue where voices could not be heard under phone calls when there was another call.
  • Fixed the issue where the EQ was invalid after certain operations under the USB DAC mode.
  • Other miscellaneous bug fixes and performance improvements.

And for their Bluetooth headphone EH3NC, the following changes have been added to the new FW1.8 firmware:

  • Added a new function of renaming the Bluetooth device in the FiiO Music App and FiiO Control App.
  • Improved the adaptability between the iOS and FiiO Control App.

How to upgrade the firmware of the LC-BT2 Bluetooth cable:

Please read the following instructions carefully, and follow it step by step.

  1. Download the Firmware Upgrade files by clicking here.
  2. Unzip or Extract the "Firmware upgrade package".
  3. Make sure that the Computer has no other Bluetooth devices plugged in.
  4. Enter the unzipped folder.
  5. Make the LC-BT2 enter DFU mode by powering it on, holding the play/pause button until you see the red and blue lights flashing alternately. Now Hold the play/pause button along with the Volume ”+” button for 5 seconds. Now the device should be in DFU mode. (The indicator will turn OFF).
  6. Connect the device to the PC using the USB cable.
  7. Run the FiiOBluetoothDfu program and click on 'Start Upgrade' > 'OK', 7. The upgrade program will run automatically.
  8. Wait 1-2 minutes for the upgrade process to finish.
  9. After the upgrade is complete, you will be prompted with a 'Successful Upgrade', indicating that you have successfully upgraded. Click 'Finish' to exit;
  10. Unplug the USB cable and reboot the LC-BT2 Bluetooth cable, and then you can use it normally.


How to How to Update the FiiO EH3NC:

  1. Download the Firmware Upgrade files by clicking here.
  2. Unzip or Extract the "Firmware upgrade package".
  3. Make sure that the Computer has no other Bluetooth devices plugged in.
  4. Enter the unzipped folder.
  5. Turn on the EH3 NC then hold the 'Volume up' and 'Multifunction' buttons at the same time until the indicator light turns off to switch to DFU mode.
  6. Connect the EH3 NC to the computer through the USB cable.
  7. Run the FiiOBluetoothDfu program and click on 'Start Upgrade' > 'OK'.
  8. The upgrade program will run automatically.
  9. Wait 1-2 minutes for the upgrade process to finish.
  10. After the upgrade is complete, you will be prompted with a 'Successful Upgrade', indicating that you have successfully upgraded. Click 'Finish' to exit;
  11. Unplug the USB cable and reboot the EH3 NC, and then you can use it normally.

Note: If the playback stutters after the upgrade, try clearing the pairing record of the EH3 NC by pressing and holding the 'Volume up' and 'Volume down' buttons at the same time, then proceed to cancel the pairing of your phone and try reconnecting again.
