QOA Adonis Unboxing & Initial Review:- Stunning & Smooth!!

Queen Of Audio, commonly known as QoA is a sister brand to Kinera established in 2019. They have been dedicatedly releasing new pairs of stunning-looking in-ear monitors in the market. They currently have three products in the market Pink Lady(3 Driver Hybrid), Mojito(6BA), and Vesper(1DD+1BA). The latest today is their stunning latest creation, the QoA Adonis. Today I am going to present you with an unboxing and share my initial impressions of this super beautiful IEM. So let’s begin.

QOA Adonis-1

QoA Adonis:-

QoA being a sister company to Kinera shows the R&D experience with their beautiful looking IEMs. All their previous offerings whether it be their budget Pink Lady or their 400$ Mojito, have sparkling beautiful looks. And the Adonis is not an exception. It features stunning ear shells made using a high-precision CNC machining process with unique Birch Wood material and UV printed faceplates. The pair features a triple driver hybrid configuration on both sides housing 1 Knowles BA, 1 QoA Custom BA, and one custom DD unit. It has a price tag of 180$, you can check out more details here.

Packaging & Accessories:-

The Adonis has a very artistic packaging. It has a colorful rectangular packaging that matches the soothing color scheme of the pair. On the top, we have Adonis & QoA’s branding logos and on the bottom, we have the product details(technical specs & more). When opened, we get a direct look at the stunning earpieces sitting firmly in a foam cutout along with a carry case and a bunch of ear tips. There are a total of 7 pairs of ear tips, 6 silicone, and 1 foam(inside the carry case). There’s also a detachable cable with 2-pin connectors and a 3.5mm termination plug. The presentation is simply superb like it looks like a 500$ IEM with such beautiful looks and accessories included. You can also see our unboxing video below.

Design & Build Quality:-

QOA Adonis-5

As mentioned earlier, the Adonis is a looker. It features stunning earpieces made using a high-precision CNC machining process with premium Birch Wood material and UV printed faceplates. The pair features a soothing color tone with a mixture of pink, purple, blue, black color tones. The nozzle has two openings, one for DD driver and the other for BA drivers. It reflects there’s a two-way frequency division in Adonis. On the backside, there’s a vent for the dynamic driver. They have 2-pin connectors providing a secure connection between the cable and the earpieces. The included cable is a braided 8-core silver-plated copper cable with a 3.5mm gold-plated termination plug. It is quite a heavy cable with a soft insulation coating providing a low microphonic effect.

The included accessories such as the leather carry case, ear tips are also of very good quality. In terms of design and build quality, the QoA Adonis is a top-notch product.

Fit & Noise Isolation:-

QOA Adonis-8

The QoA Adonis earpieces have a universal fit design. They provide a very comfy and secure fit for me(I have medium-sized ears) but I am pretty sure they will provide a comfy fit for most users. They cover the ear canal completely providing good levels of noise isolation even outdoors.

Driving the QoA Adonis:-

The Adonis is an easy to drive pair. It has a low impedance rating of 21 ohms with a high-sensitivity of 113dB/mW. I tried the pair with Huawei Mate 40 Porsche edition(using a generic Type-C to 3.5mm dongle), Hidizs AP80 Pro, and Khadas Tone 2 Pro. While the pair gets powered easily using smartphones such as the Mate 40, it shows slightly better extensions with hi-res players.

With Mate 40 Porsche:-

QOA Adonis-9

Directly plugging in the pair with a smartphone, it sounds good with adequate listening volume at 70% volume on the phones.

With Hidizs AP80 Pro Titanium & Tone 2 Pro:-

QOA Adonis-10

While one can easily power the Adonis using smartphones, with hi-res players or DAC/AMP’s such as the AP80 Pro and Khadas Tone 2 Pro, it shows slight improvements like better extensions at both the top and lower end. The Bass feels slightly deeper and punchier as compared to a normal smartphone’s pairing.

Don’t worry if you use your smartphone as a music source, you can still enjoy the Adonis comfortably on the go but using a hi-res player is recommended.

Sound Quality:-

The QoA adonis presents a crisp, detailed sound output with a mild V-shaped signature. It has an overall warmer tonality with a lively & punchy output. The DD unit provides a fast, punchy bass, while the BA drivers present the user with smooth, transparent mid and high frequencies. Both the male and female vocals sound natural and detailed. The pair shows no signs of sibilance or harshness even at loud volumes. It complements fast genres such as EDM, Pop with its quick, punchy lower end complementing the other frequencies well.

Bass:-

The QoA Adonis is equipped with a 10mm DD unit providing a punchy low end. The mid-bass doesn’t feel overwhelming or overdone, it sounds just about right to provide a complementing punchy response for our music. Sub-bass is not too heavy or powerful but shows decent rumble. The best part is even with such speed and extensions, the bass is clean and precise. It is controlled within its region well so no muddiness in mid or high frequencies.

Mids:-

QoA Adonis presents the users with a highly transparent and resolving mid-frequency response. Both the male and female Vocals sound full of emotions and intimate. They are presented with a natural tonality and controlled, neither sounding too into the face nor sounding too far away. Musical Instruments such as Acoustic guitars, pianos, sound warm and airy. Loved listening to Damien Rice, Taylor Swift, RHCP, Linkin Park, and more artists with the Adonis.

Treble:-

QoA has tuned the Adonis with good levels of extensions and clarity. It adds a definition to the sound without making it harsh or fatiguing at all. The treble adds a sense of sparkle to the output with its precise detailing and high-resolution clarity. It brings out good details in complex genres such as heavy metal, and more. The non-fatiguing response lets one enjoy music for long listening sessions without getting tired.

Soundstage & Imaging:-

The Adonis presents its users with an above average soundstage width and depth. It sounds adequately wide with enough air and space for an enjoyable experience. The pair shows crisp instrument detailing with good clarity.

QOA Adonis-11

Final Impressions:-

The QoA Adonis performs quite well with its stunning looks, punchy bass, transparent mids, and provides the user with a detailed output, delivering an outstanding experience. Overall I loved the smooth, warm tonality of the Adonis and would recommend this. The pair is available for 180$ on the HiFiGo store, you can check out more details here.
