Dunu DK-3001 Pro:- Sound Test!!

When it comes to premium chi-fi pair of in-ear monitors, Dunu is the first name that comes to the mind of people with their amazing collection of premium earphones which provide outstanding sound and build quality.

Based on a very famous model, the Dunu Dk-3001, Dunu has released a new iteration for the same.

The Dunu DK-3001 Pro.

And, today was our lucky day, we got a unit from Dunu and we will be doing the unboxing and sharing our initial impressions for the same.

The Dunu Dk-3001 Pro is based more on the Dk-4001, a more premium model of the Dunu lineup, offering five driver hybrid setup, the Dk-3001 pro is based on a similar five driver hybrid setup unlike the four hybrid setup of the Dk-3001.

But before coming to the driver setups and their sound reproduction, let's discuss the technical specifications for the Dunu DK-3001 Pro.

Unboxing Impressions:-

The Dunu Dk-3001 Pro has got an amazing, neat packing, just like its premium sound quality.

Dunu has got a neat white colored cardboard box with an image of a Dunu DK-3001 pro earpiece in a translucent manner to show the inner driver arrangement of the hybrid driver unit.

On the box, it has mentioned branding logo's for Knowles as Knowles balanced armature driver units are present in the box, SpinFit and Comply Memory Foam logo as they have included ear tips by both the brands inside the package.

As we open the box and first we are welcomed by a leaflet of paper which reads, Designed by Dunu, and as we remove it we get a glimpse at the beautiful pair of IEM's sitting in the packing, connected to the 4 core pure crystal copper wire with the modular plug connector.

Above it lies the modular plugs for the cable, there are four different plugs included in the package, 2.5mm balanced, 3.5mm single-ended, 3.5mm balanced and 4.4mm balanced.

When you pull up the first layer containing the beautiful pair of IEM's, pure copper crystal wire and different set of plugs, you see another layer of accessories, the beautiful green colored leather carry case, 3 pairs of grey colored silicone tips, 3 pairs of black-colored red tube silicone tips, 4 pairs of custom SpinFit ear tips which is of much better quality and comes with different silicone gaskets to extend the nozzle fit to the ear tips if in any case, you get any fit issues.

The SpinFit is a premium ear tip brand and including tips by them is truly appreciated and ensures that everyone gets proper fit for that great isolation and sound enjoyment.
There is also a single pair of Comply memory foam tips.

A 3.5mm-6.35mm adapter plug is there too.

And apart from all these, there is a leaflet of various tips on how to apply the ear tips and gaskets to your IEM's.

A cleaning brush is also part of the package, very useful in cleaning the IEM's of ear wax from time to time.

Build Quality:-

The Dunu DK-3001 Pro is build using a premium 316L stainless steel shells as housing, providing the IEM's a tough and strong build while maintaining the tuning and sound quality.

The shells are similar to Dunu's other lineup like the Dk 2001 or Dk 4001, but here it uses stainless steel shells, the faceplates have beautiful inner bezels design with Dunu branding at the face of the earpiece.

The wire included in the package is not the Dunu Hulk as included in the more premium DK4001 but instead, it is a teardown version of the same, the Dunu Lyra, featuring 4N pure copper crystal wire with modular plug design,
which supports multiple plugs included in the package, ranging from 2.5mm balanced to 4.4mm balanced it has everything.

The connector type is a custom-designed MMCX connector, similar to normal MMCX connector type but a little bit different in socket style.

The pure crystal copper wire is a premium wire included in the package and users will not have to upgrade their wire as it already provides proper sound conduction, with no distortion of any kind.

Overall the build quality of Dunu DK-3001 pro is very tough and good which can also be said about the cable and the accessories included in the package.

Fit:-

Well, the shells are small, but it never created any issues for us, the fit was proper, ergonomic and comfortable, we have used the SpinFit ear tips included in the package and didn't felt the need for adjusting the fit using gasket as fit was already proper.

The earpieces cover the entire ear canal providing good noise isolation and no noise leakage issues, the earpieces sat well in our ear's and sang nicely in our ears.

Sound Quality Impressions:-

Well, buying a premium set of in-ear monitors makes one worried until they get to know how the pair actually sounds and believe us we were worried too, but as soon as we connected the pairs to our DAP, the FiiO M15 and put them in our ears, and We were impressed.

The Four Driver Hybrid unit works flawlessly, providing you a balanced and wide sound quality, the sound signature is neutral and shines in all the departments equally and precisely.

The drivers are distributed in such a manner, two custom-tuned Knowles balanced armatures for those brilliant lush and natural mids, two custom-tuned Knowles balanced armatures for those smooth and crisp detailed treble response, while a 13mm beryllium coated dynamic driver creates those thumps and powerful bass response in the lower end.

In the beryllium coated dynamic driver unit, a 13mm dynamic driver has been provided with a beryllium coating improving its durability, ensuring stable and precise tuning with zero phase distortion.

The multi-driver hybrid provides us with a wide and tall soundstage with good depth and crisp details, you can easily notice different instruments being played and their placements.

The Pair provides quite a neutral sound with good thumps in the lower end, lush and crisp mids, with detailed extended higher end.
