It is a high-resolution headphone amplifier capable of producing 6W of tremendously powerful output. It features a specially designed Precision Linear Feedback Circuit that helps the SH-8s maintain ultra-low levels of distortion at such high output levels. SH-8s follows the traditional classical look of S.M.S.L headphone amplifiers featuring retro-style toggle switches for on/off, input, and gain functions.

SH8s features two-level gain modes to pair sensitive as well as demanding headphones. At low-gain mode, the gain level is at 0dB which gets thrust to +17.5dB at high-gain mode.
