The latest Illustrious comes as a successor to the Illumination, which was also a highly acclaimed single dynamic driver flagship IEM.

At the heart of Illustrious, we have their patented 11mm dynamic driver unit now with upgraded Diaphragm and Magnetic circuit for an enhanced sound performance. Moondrop has upgraded the 11mm dynamic driver unit with TAC Diamond-Coated Dome Composite diaphragm. It provides enhanced sound performance with enhanced clarity and improved three-frequency band. It is based on the trusted LCP dome diaphragm technology, with an artificial diamond layer applied through a deposition process.

This layer greatly improves the rigidity of the dome and exhibits improved internal damping. It results in enhanced treble response. Moondrop has also used flexible polyurethane material suspension that greatly improves the bass dynamics. Illustrious achieves a wide frequency band with this professionally designed 11mm patented single dynamic driver unit.

Moondrop has always developed its single DD IEMs with high-grade magnetic circuits. The latest Illustrious is no different. With ultra-high-efficiency magnetic conductive materials and a scientifically designed large-volume magnetic circuit, the new magnetic architecture is achieved. It adopts high-quality copper alloy material to independently support the driver structure and minimize the disturbances in the magnetic circuit. This new magnetic architecture produces a strong magnetic field, enhancing the pair’s efficiency and also improving the distortion characteristics of the pair. Moondrop has featured a newly developed front cavity structure on the Illustrious. This front cavity eliminates standing waves and reduces the high-frequency signal diffraction, resulting in smooth, effortless treble reproduction. Moondrop Illustrious smoothly handles a wide frequency band and produces a clean, crisp, and defined three-frequency band. Professional engineers at Moondrop have tuned the Illustrious following diffuse field-HRTF(Head-Related Transfer Function) target response. It offers a true reference sound response with a neutral tuning. Bass has a well-defined band that complements the rich tone and natural timbre of the pair. Moondrop has adjusted the tuning of the pair with measurements from the advanced B&W4128C measurement rig.

Moondrop Illustrious has got fantastic build quality. The ear shells are made up of premium Titanium Alloy material. They are crafted using a high-precision CNC machining process. The pair also features a gold-plated brass material cavity structure. Each component of the pair is carefully chosen to deliver a premium experience to the users. Moondrop bundles the Illustrious with a high-quality stock cable that adopts 0.78mm 2-pin connectors and comes with interchangeable termination plugs. We get 3.5mm single-ended and 4.4mm balanced plugs in the package.
