Moondrop has equipped the Chu 3 with a custom-developed 10mm high-performance dynamic driver unit. The star of the show here is its composite diaphragm made up of aerospace-grade aluminium-magnesium (Al-Mg) alloy dome material. This material is often reserved for significantly high-tier IEMs, it is extremely thin yet highly rigid. By utilizing this ultra-lightweight profile alongside a dual-polymer suspension system, the Chu 3 achieves near-instantaneous transient responses, vastly reduced nonlinear distortion, and a punchy, authoritative lower end.

To properly harness the power of the new Al-Mg driver, Moondrop has completely overhauled the internal acoustic architecture on the pair. The Chu 3 employs a strong N52 neodymium magnetic circuit paired with an ultra-lightweight CCAW voice coil, generating a massive magnetic flux of over 1.5T. Further refining the sound is a precision-engineered, CNC-machined independent brass acoustic nozzle.
