FiiO has equipped the FT13 with a custom-developed 60mm dynamic driver featuring a W-shaped wool composite nano wood fibre diaphragm. It is reinforced with European birch wood and wool, adding a unique flavour and character to the sound. The diaphragm has unique dense grain patterns which minimizes unwanted resonance and result in clean, high-resolution sound reproduction. To get the best out of this large-sized dynamic driver, FiiO has designed an optimized closed-back acoustic technology. It includes a specialized standing wave dissipation chamber, sound-absorbing rear cavity with cotton padding, and a noise-damping U-shaped tube structure. All this setup provides up to 26dB passive noise isolation and immerses the listeners completely into their favourite music.

FiiO uses high-quality purpleheart wooden ear cups for the FT13. The ear cups are precision-milled, naturally aged for about 90 days to get a rich, to get neat, dense grain look. They are oxidation-treated for enhanced durability. With age, the ear cups will tend to get darker and get an even beautiful, deeper purplish-brown or chestnut-brown colour.
